This qualification recognises the skills, knowledge and competence required of an individual to work in an unsupervised capacity, covering the considerations for safe and effective exercise as well as how to plan and adapt exercise programmes for pre and post natal clients.
This qualification comprises two units and approximately 45 learning hours. Candidates are expected to complete both units successfully to gain certification.
Candidates must have a Level 3 certificate in Pilates matwork or equivalent and a current First Aid certificate.
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of the following broad areas;
Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
Exercise programme design for pre and post natal clients
Delivering a Pilates teaching session for pre and post natal clients
Assessment 1 - Written Theory Test (30 questions) 25% of qualification
Complete a written theory test to demonstrate underpinning knowledge of;
Anatomical and physiological changes associated with the pregnancy to include; affecting the bones and joints, muscles, cardio respiratory/vascular systems, nervous system, gastro-intestinal system and urinary system
Practical implications of physiology changes during second and third trimesters to the session components
Assessment 2 - Case Study 25% of qualification
Complete a written case study to demonstrate ability to apply underpinning knowledge to a practical case by;
